Nasir Campbell

Nasir Campbell is a native of Brooklyn, New York where he received his formal dance training under the mentorship of Joe Antony Cavise, and Jamel Gaines. He is the youngest of five children and began dancing at the tender age of 3 in his father’s church. Nasir is a graduate of Dr. Susan S. McKinney Secondary School of the Arts and receives his BFA at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. At UArts, he worked with choreographers Milton Myers, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Juel D. Lane, to name a few. Nasir has also traveled to work with choreographers in Europe including Daniel Condamine & Dominique Stringer from the Pina Bausch dance school. He is the founder and CEO of the Maliek Dance Theater. At Maliek Dance Theater he encourages all students that fear is false and you can do anything you set your mind to. He is committed to encouraging all dancers to strive for excellence and enjoy the journey along the way and to give students an enriching and inspiring course that will educate and benefit the mind, body and soul. Nasir is a recipient of many awards such as Key of Life award, Expressivity award,  Chancellor’s Endorsed Diploma for the Arts, Chancellor’s Rising Star award, Arts Achievements Award, Community Service award and many more. In 2016 Nasir had the opportunity to work with Disney The Rafiki Lion King National Tour Company, Aubrey Lynch, Dance Africa at BAM, to name a few. Nasir is an artist, choreographer, visionary, educator, curator, and musician who is dedicated, passionate, and determined to be an art professional that eats, sleeps and lives the arts.
